MetaStock is a U.S. charting program created by Innovative Market Analysis LLC based in Utah. MetaStock versions 6.52 to 11 access data from Bodhi5's MetaStock format. MetaStock versions 12 to 14 use a proprietary format supplied by Reuters, however MetaStock version 15 can be updated by Bodhi5.

These instructions will take you through two processes:
• Configuring Bodhi5 to use the MetaStock data format.
• Configuring MetaStock V15 to read the Bodhi5 MetaStock directories.

Configuring Bodhi5 for MetaStock

1. Install Bodhi5 using the installation instructions.
2. Once installed, launch Bodhi5. If this didn't happen automatically when you finished installation double-click the Bodhi5 icon on your desktop or select it from your Windows® Start menu. Windows® 7 or above = Start ➔ Infosoft ➔ Freeway
   Windows® XP or below = Start ➔ All Programs ➔ Infosoft ➔ Bodhi 5 Gold ➔ Freeway
3. A Confirm box will appear asking you to connect to the Internet to finish the installation. This process requires downloading files from the Internet. Make sure you are connected to the Internet then click the Yes button.

   
   If a box appears asking you to use previous Bodhi settings, then refer to the tutorial: Configure BodhiGold 5 using my Bodhi settings.

4. Select your closest Country from the drop-down box, then click [x].

   

5. Select your Nearest city from the drop-down box, then click [x].

   

 (!)  MetaStock File Format

Bodhi's MetaStock format is compatible with MetaStock Versions 6.52 to 11 & 15 to 17 and any software that uses the binary format which originated from the Computrac file format.

The MetaStock format within Bodhi supports the legacy versions and their file folder limitations. For example: you can configure the format to load 255 files per folder; 2000 or 6000 depending on your version of MetaStock or compatible program you are using.

MetaStock File formats:
MetaStock v6.5 or less = 255 files per folder
MetaStock v6.52 to v8 = 2000 files per folder
MetaStock v8.10 to v11 = 6000 files per folder
MetaStock v12 to v14 = not compatible
MetaStock v15 to v17 = 6000 files per folder

Software that uses the MetaStock format:
Advanced GET = 2000 files per folder
AmiBroker = 2000 files per folder
BullCharts = 2000 files per folder
Gannalyst = 2000 files per folder
GTE Charting = 2000 files per folder
OmniTrader = 2000 files per folder
SuperCharts = 255 files per folder
TradeStation 2000 = 255 files per folder
TradeStation v8+ = 6000 files per folder

6. Select MetaStock v8.10 to v11* and any other formats you require from the list of analysis software, then click [x]. By selecting this version, Bodhi5 will automatically choose the MetaStock format with files set to 6000 per directory.

   

7. Bodhi5 will now download product lists required to finish the installation.

   

8. Initialisation is now completed. Click the OK button to shut down Bodhi5 then restart the software.

   

9. The registration screen will appear, telling you how many days you have left to trial the software.

   

   1. To continue with the trial, click the No button. The software will give you access to the Exchange data nearest your location for the remainder of your trial period. If you requested access to other Exchange data you will need to register Bodhi5 for your trial period.
      The Confirm registration box will appear each time you open Bodhi5 (until it is registered).
   2. If you have purchased the software, email or telephone (+61 7 3821 5177) JustData with the Installation Code. You will then be given your personalised Registration Code. Click Yes to this message then enter your code into the box provided and click the OK button.

      

10. Click the Configure button.

    

11. The following instructions will show you how to fetch up to 6-months historical data:
    1. Right-click on the Finance tab and select Reset then Received from the menu.

       

    2. The Received box will be displayed. The date should automatically be set to 6-months ago.

       

    3. Click the [OK] button.
12. Exit the Configuration screen by clicking the [x] button.
13. Connect to the Internet then click the Catchup button. Bodhi5 will now download and export the last 6-months of data to your hard drive.

    

Congratulations, you have successfully configured Bodhi5 and imported 6-months of data into a MetaStock format (c:\Data\MetaStock\ASX0 directory). From now on, you will only need to press the Catchup button in Bodhi5 each night to retrieve the latest data. The free trial will run for 30-days after installation.

Configure MetaStock v15 to open Bodhi5 files

1. Open MetaStock by clicking Start > MetaStock Pro Offline Mode. If you are in Online Mode, select File then Go Offline

   

2. Right-click Instruments (where it says Instruments 0 of ?) to display the drop-down menu, then select Manage Custom Lists.

   

3. Select New then Local Instruments.

   

4. Select Browse from the New Custom List box.

   

5. In the Local Instrument box click on the Browse button and browse to the directory: c:\Data\MetaStock\ASX0.

   
   Select the Add button to add them to the box.

6. Select Save then Close.
