Selecting new products from the Bodhi menu
To select new products from the Bodhi menu you need to download files - so make sure you are connected to the Internet before continuing:
- Open BodhiGold.
- Click on the Configure button. The Configuration screen will appear.
- In the Data Selection box you will see a number of different tabs.
| Finance |
Contains the more popular world-wide securities exchanges. |
| Commod |
Contains world-wide commodity and futures exchanges. |
| Forex |
Contains foreign exchange cross-rates for the top 8 World currencies. |
Each tab contains a list of countries with a [+] sign next to them. All data is categorised under the country it comes from. Countries that are highlighted in blue have products already selected in them. Countries with no data selected are grey.
- For this tutorial we are going to add futures data from the Sydney Futures Exchange. To do this, we need to click on the [+] sign next to Australia. This will display all the Exchanges that are available from this country.
- To select products from the Sydney Futures Exchange we need to click on the [+] sign next to the exchange. This will display a list of products available from this exchange.
For the Sydney Futures Exchange these products include futures and options. Other exchanges (i.e. Australian Securities Exchange) include: Equities; Indexes; CFDs; Warrants & Income.
Double-click on Future to open the Future product list.
- If you've never downloaded this product before you will be prompted to download the latest list of futures. To do this, go to File>Refresh.
Note: Even if you have downloaded this list in the past, it is worth refreshing it to make sure you have all currently listed futures.

The list of futures will now be downloaded from our server. When finished the list will be displayed.
- You now need to decide what you want to download. The selections you make on this screen will control the amount of data you update.
There are three ways to choose data from this screen:
- The View drop-down menu
- The Bundle box
- Individually ticking symbols
View menu
The best place to start is the View drop-down menu. This menu controls the symbols that are displayed on the screen.
The menu is divided into two parts. The first part lets you choose between Families and Members (members are chosen by default). In most product lists the default setting is preferred but in products such as Futures and Options you may wish to choose Families as this gives you more control over your selections.
When you select Families the list is refreshed. Instead of displaying the individual futures symbols the list now contains one symbol for each family series. This is useful if you only want to download a few symbol series as opposed to the entire list. For example: if you now ticked the box next to: APD* & BLN*, Bodhi would only update all the SPI 200 Day and BHP Billiton Night contracts - the rest of the list would be ignored.
The second part of the drop-down box lets you choose the type of symbol you want the list to display. Each product list has different defaults but for the Future product lists only Derived symbols are turned on. The derived symbols for the futures are continuous contracts. Continuous contracts are created dynamically from the current contracts. To display current contracts as well as the derived, select Common from the drop-down box.
This will refresh the list adding all the currently trading contracts. The other selection you have here is AdvDec. This stands for Advance Decline and if you select this option, nine symbols will be added to the top of the list. These symbols are dynamic to the current market and will calculate trins, ratios and lines from the available data.
Please Note: You can deselect options that are ticked/dotted by selecting them.
Bundle box
Once you've got the list displaying the symbols you are interested in you then need to choose them. This brings us to the Bundle box. From this box you can make the following selections:
| None |
You would select this option if you don't want to update any data from this list or if you are going to tick symbols individually. |
| Top? |
You can configure this option to select the top 1 to 999 symbols. For more information refer to: Update a group of ranked stocks . |
| All |
Everything in the list will be selected when you choose this option. |
| Set |
This option can be configured to update a set of symbols, for example: the symbols that make up the ASX All Ordinaries index. For more information refer to: Update a set groups of stocks . |
| CFD |
This option can be configured to update a set of CFD symbols. |
Please Note: not all these selections are pertinent to each product list. For example, only None and All are available in the Sydney Futures product list. The ones that are not available will be in grey and you won't be able to select them.
Ticking symbols
If you only want to download a selection of symbols you can simply tick the box next to them in the list. You will need to make sure the Bundle is set to None before you do this.
- Now that you know what is available from the View menu and how to choose symbols using the Bundle box or by ticking them, you need to make the selections you require.
Deselecting products from the Bodhi menu
To deselect products, do the following:
- In this tutorial we are going to deselect the American Business Indicators. Every installation of BodhiGold automatically selects the product group: World Zones. This group includes World indexes that are split into three [3] lists (depending on the country of origins time zone). The lists are American; AusAsian & European Business Indicators - the names are explanatory.
- To deselect the American Business Indicators we need to click on the [+] sign next to World Zones. This will display the three lists (mentioned above).
- Click on the [+] sign next to American Business Indicators then double-click on Indice. This will display the list of indexes.
Currently the Bundle is set to All which has made the entire list active. This means that all 59 indexes will be downloaded and updated to your charting software.
- To deselect this data simply choose None from the Bundle box. This sets the Active symbols to 0 which means no data will be downloaded or updated from this product list.
