ScanVest: Features
ScanVest 2 is powered by
BodhiGold data and is designed for the intermediate to advanced user. You need to have a basic knowledge of (or the inclination to learn about) technical and fundamental analysis.
The release of ScanVest 2 has seen the inclusion of a lot of new features to the software as well as a more stream-lined interface.
Below are a list of standard features that were available in earlier ScanVest versions. These are still available in ScanVest 2 as well as many more.

Presaved scans
Not quite sure how to go about setting up your own scans?. Well don't worry!, ScanVest comes with a number of built-in scans that will have you testing the market in no time.
Supports multiple scans
No limitations. Enter us many individual scans as you require. Each scan can support multiple strategies and each strategy supports multiple conditions. This program is only limited by your imagination.
Furthermore, each scan is saved to a single file on your hard-drive allowing you to share your trading techniques with other ScanVest users.
Supports backtesting and normal scanning
Backtest scans over your historical database as well as scanning on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis.
Scan unpadded or padded data
ScanVest uses the BodhiOne database supplied in BodhiGold and Bodhi Freeway. This database is automatically configured for unpadded data. However, ScanVest gives you the option to use either
unpadded or
padded data for your scans.
Note: ScanVest makes this change internally and does not alter your BodhiOne database.
Choose the events you want to include in your scan
The BodhiOne database that ScanVest reads, is not adjusted for reconstructions. All adjustment information is contained in another file and can be applied to the database as required. This gives you the choice of which adjustments you want to be applied to your database before you run your scan. You can choose to adjust your database for Structural; Capital; Distribution; Contract and Dividend reconstructions.
- Structural
- Includes: Stock Splits; Stock Consolidations and Complex Capital Changes.
- Capital
- Return of Capital
- Distribution
- Includes: Right Issues; Non-Renounceables and Scrip Issues.
- Contract
- Future Contract Swaps
- Dividend
- Cash Dividends
Note: ScanVest makes all changes internally and does not alter your BodhiOne database.
Filter the exact data you want going into your scans
Make your scans quicker by including only the information you want in each scan. ScanVest lets you filter on eight different criteria. You can use any or all of these to narrow down your scan results.

This scan will only look at the equity ALN from the Australian Stock Exchange
- Module
- BodhiGold gives you access to 4 modules of information.
Cellar: Investment Wine Data; Commod: Commodity & Futures data; Finance: Stock Exchange data and Funds: Fund data.
Selecting Finance would scan only Stock Exchange information.
- Region
- You can filter your data by region (countries). For example: if you set this to Australia, only the Australian, Newcastle and Sydney Futures Exchanges will be scanned.
- Source
- Choose individual Exchanges (i.e. Australian Stock Exchange and/or London Stock Exchange).
- Market
- Choose a particular market group/s (Equity; Future; Income; Indice; Liquor; Mutual; Option & Warrant).
- Symbol
- Choose individual symbols or load a list of symbols into this criteria.
- Closed
- If you set closed to <$10 only securities that have a close price that is less than $10 will be used in this scan.
- Sector
- Scan only symbols that are constituents of a particular GICS Index.
- Ranked
- Set a scan to include symbols that are ranked under or over a specific number. Ranking is determined by the Market Capitalisation of a company.
Pre-set list of conditions in-built
Scan your database using pre-configured conditions for technical, fundamental and statistical analysis. These include: Bollinger Bands; Dividend Yield; Guppy Countback Lines; Hull Rate of Return Indicator; MACD; Market Capital; Relative Strength to name a few.
Conditions have fully configurable parameters
Every condition supplied in ScanVest is configurable by the user. For example: If you choose the
Moving Average condition you can set the
Style to Simple; Exponential or Weighted. You can also choose whether you want the Moving Average to be drawn on the close, high, low, open or volume price and you can set the period. Each condition has configurable fields relating to that function.
